Which registration documents will my NPC receive, and what should I do with them? #
The key document is the CoR 14.3 registration certificate issued by the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC). It confirms that the Non-Profit Company (NPC) has been incorporated.
The certificate records important company information, including the registration number and incorporation date. The current South African Revenue Service (SARS) guidance also states that an NPC’s income-tax reference number appears on the CoR 14.3.
What should you check? #
Compare the documents with the approved application. Check:
- the registered company name and “NPC” ending;
- registration number;
- incorporation date;
- registered address and contact information;
- directors; and
- income-tax reference number where shown.
Report an apparent error promptly through Start My Company Support. Do not alter an official document yourself.
How should the documents be stored? #
Keep protected electronic copies and, where useful, paper copies. Restrict access to identity and private application material. Maintain a company-records folder that is separate from any director’s personal records.
Banks, funders, SARS and other bodies may request company documents, but each has its own requirements. Send documents only through a trusted route and only when there is a lawful and genuine need.
What happens next? #
The certificate is not the end of the process. The new NPC must deal with immediate CIPC beneficial-ownership requirements, SARS representation, company records and later recurring filings.
